This is by far my favorite Star Wars book! One, because it’s very well written and a delightful story. Two, I’m biased. Leia is far and away my favorite character. I loved learning about her as a teenager on her way to becoming the woman she becomes. I especially love the relationship between her and her parents. It’s very real in the way she begins to see that they are keeping secrets from her (for well intentions reasons) and how she refuses to be left out. It shows not only that their relationship is changing (which is what happens when we grow), but also that Leia could never have been protected from the rebellion. She chose to get involved even before she knew what it was! Also, I too loved the dinner scene. It was hilarious reading Breha accuse Mon Mothma of sleeping with Bail. We know that would never happen, but Tarkin doesn’t, and his discomfort is awesome. I’ve never read another book that covers so much of Alderaan culture. The only other might be The Courtship of Princess Leia. She talks a lot about Alderaan in that book so we learn things about it. But no others come to mind so that’s a bonus with this book. I’m glad you guys read it and enjoyed it!
